I am always intrigued by books about WWII--
So many people, especially the young ones want to 'get into the action.' They want to 'fight for their country.' Would I have been like that? But we all know that war is not glamorous. War is hard! I cannot even imagine living in a foxhole or seeing someone get shot dead. And then there is the running for your life and hiding so no one sees you and simply surviving any way you can. Not to mention if you ever got caught and what happens to you as a prisoner of war.
